Homework, things for tomorrow, and upcoming events
Today you started to organize something like an outline for 3 possible questions that you are interested in. As you had two periods to work on it, you are expected to have at least 1 organizer completed for tomorrow. If you are away from school due to sports, or illness, be sure to keep on track.

Tomorrow we will start a prep-discussion on Fractions to prepare for the start of the probability unit with our Teacher Candidate from York University.
Tomorrow we will also have a discussion and prepare a suggested packing list for Ottawa.
Remember to bring in candy to fill up the 7A Contribution for the bottle bonanza - the rocket should be finished tomorrow morning. Your donations are appreciated and should be in tomorrow.

7A Update
By the end of this weekend you should have finished The Greatest Thing Since Sliced Bread. Hopefully the ending and style of writing satisfied your reading preferences. There will be an in-class open-book test this week. It is not possible to study for (unless you have yet to complete the novel). In fact, we will examine how to study and prepare for a language test when the question is provided (how to make a good outline to prepare for a test). This will all be in class work, you will not be able to do this at home (sweet no homework!)

Remember that the Algebra test is on the 23rd in the afternoon. Tomorrow during the 5 core periods throughout the day we will look at various possibilities of questions, take up any concerns based on worksheets, textbook, and practice test questions.

Sumalee won 40 super bouncy balls playing horseshoes at her school's game night. Later, she gave two to each of her friends. She only has 8 remaining. How many friends does she have?

If you are having trouble with the material, please let your teacher know well in advance. Waiting until 8 weeks of classes, and 9 different formulae, to have passed is not fair to yourself. There will be optional tutoring this coming Tuesday at lunch, and Thursday after school. If you would like to attend please email your science teacher as soon as possible.
Your first step in studying should be to write down each formula, and sketch each simple machine, then finally sketch and label a simple hydraulic system. Remember we've spent time each week for the past three reviewing all the different formulae.
Formulas: force, work, mechanical advantage (general formula), then levers, wheel and axle, and ramp formulas, work efficiency, and finally the force formula for pressure.

The hydraulics tests are being returned, as well as the quiz. There were several interruptions this past few weeks which prevents the timely return of them.

Bedford Badminton Update and Playoff Information
Congrats to Bedford A and B for their respective hard-fought semi-final match.
Bedford A will be playing in the Conference Final match on 24 April, at 1200hrs at Pleasantview JHS. Departure from Bedford will be right at the start of lunch on the 24th, and departure from Pleasantview is slated for 1250hrs.
Permission forms will be available tomorrow.
Please consult with your parents for volunteer drivers. We need transportation for 10 players.
Practice is slated for Wednesday after school. Members of Bedford B are invited to attend.

Practice is at 0715 (yes...that early...) on Tuesday as that is the only practice time we can have. The school is hosting the Grade 5 and 6 Badminton finals, and their warm ups are slated for 0805 with matches at 0830.
There will be no optional practice after school.

Departure from Bedford at 0740hrs for AY Jackson Secondary School (50 Francine Dr), so arrive for our usual practice time. Our first match is at 0930 against Annette. Should we be victorious, then our next match is at 1150, which is the medal match.
At the latest we will be heading back to Bedford by 1250.
Be sure to bring a lunch to eat right after the game in order to attend afternoon classes (as we will be getting back to Bedford during period 5 if we play in the medal match), as well as a snack to eat between the first and second match. Bring oodles of hydrating liquids.

there are a few illnesses going about. best practices to wash your hands frequently and before you eat. washing hands is more effective than hand sanitizer on its own. stay hydrated.
if you are sick email your homeroom teacher at the minimum.
Health comes first. if you are ill do not come out to sports in the morning. sleep. eat. let your coaches know.

7A: Loaves have arrived

Homework: take a few moments to summarize some of the ideas from the centres during the last double period. Define the following words: conduction, convection, radiation, insulation, endothermic, exothermic.
Tests Returned: Theory tests will be returned this week, portfolios and hands on test results next week. There are still some people who have not submitted their hands-on test portfolios.

Math: create your own question. On a half-sheet of paper, or two index cards, write your name on one side of both of them, and then create a question and write it on one card. Write the solution on the other.
Today we looked at solving equivalent statements.
4a + 7= 5a + 1
9b -21 = 6b
6c + 7 = 4c + 25
2d + 3 = 4d - 4
We discussed that manipulating the statement to isolate the variable is more accurate, and a better use of our time, than the guess and check method.
