7A Language: Morris Paragraphs
Yesterday we started reading about Morris Bird III, and you were assigned to write a paragraph supporting your opinion on who Morris is most similar to, Anne, David, or Ender.
Post your (edited) paragraphs in this thread by the end of the week.
In my opinion Morris Bird the third is most like Anne frank. One reason for this is that he and Anne were just ordinary kids. They both led pretty normal lives. They both went to school, had friends, made mistakes, and had crushes. Anne had one on Peter and Morris had one on suzanne. Another reason is that they both lived in the same time period, the 1940's. Also they both have a character trait in common, they are both kind. Morris felt sorry that somebody was getting in trouble for him, so that shows he is nice. And Anne Frank was just always nice to the people around her. So, for all those reasons I think Morris most resembles Anne the most.
I feel Morris Bird the third's situation and personality is most like Ender Wiggin. I feel this way because they both are scared of becoming something that they don't want to become. They both feel guilty at least one point of the books. For example, when Ender hits Bonzo he feels really guilty even though he was only defending himself. Morris Bird III feels bad for throwing his sandwich and it some how hitting the principals car. They both consider other peoples feelings before themselves. For all these reasons I think Morris Bird III resembles Ender Wiggin the most.
I think that Morris Bird the third is most like David because their characteristics are alike. I say this because they are kind of the same age and they are living in the same time. Morris’s characteristics I think are happy, curious and he has an imagination. I think David’s characteristics are curious, brave, determined and also have an imagination. The reason why I think David is brave and determined is because of the circumstances he is in. I think if he didn’t live in a concentration camp most of his life he would be a lot more like Morris. This is why I think that Morris Bird the third is like David.
Morris Bird III's characteristics very much reflect those of David. Because David was in a concentration camp for almost his whole life, he is absolutely ignorant of the outside world. Morris is young, so he is still learning the ways of life. Both of them have imaginative, if warped, views of the world. David believe that the Nazis are chasing him all over the continent. Obviously, they weren't, because that would be a massive waste of manpower. Morris also thinks weird stuff. The fact that he thought he had an odometer in his stomach, and that hi mom was mad at him for upchucking, are just two examples. I feel that if David and Morris were to meet each other, they would find the similarities freaky, and would think that the other was out to get them, based on their views of other things.
I think Morris bird III is like David because they were both around the same time period so around 1942 and they are about the same age. Morris’s characteristics are happy, and guilty. David’s characteristics are courageous, brave, and determined. The difference between David is, David lived in a concentration camp across the sea from Italy and escaped it, and Morris lives in a house in the U.S. Morris never has to know what it was like in a concentration camp. David only knew what it was like living in a home for a couple weeks. Morris and David are just like the same as each other.
Morris Bird III is a boy who is guilty about what he does he also has lots of opinions on the world. That is why I believe that he is and David are most similar. Both Morris Bird III and David both feel very guilty about things even if it isn't their fault. David for example doesn't think that even someone in as dire situation ad him shouldn't as God for too much, and feels guilty every time he does so. The authors both make Morris Bird III and David have deep opinions on the world and other people. In addition they both have a girl(s) that they're confused about their feelings for them. Humble is another thing they both are, when David rescues a girl from a burning shed he doesn't think people should make such a big deal out of it. Morris Bird III thinks that too much fuss is made over his bravery. Finally both of them were affected by WWII as David had to be on the run, and Morris Bird III had most necessary supplies rationed because of the war. The similarities are very obvious between Morris Bird III and David.
I think that Morris's personality is most similar to David's. Although they are in very different places their experiences evolve around many similar events such as the Second World War and acts of bravery. For example early in "the greatest thing science sliced bread" it is revealed that Morris performs an act of bravery that he is very humble about. He ensures people that the "congratulations" is not necessary, it simply happened when it happened. This characteristic is true to David as well. When he rescues Maria from the fire he feels that the wealthy family has made an unnecessary fuss and that he would really just like to get on his way. Both Morris and David show humble characteristics as well as bravery, these two thing help shape and define these characters.
Morris Bird III a kid who has to make allowances has to resemble someone from our previous book reports but who? I think that Morris Bird III is like Anne. One reason I think they are similar is because they both are living during the same time period. Another thing they have in common is that they both have more than one crush, for example Anne liked Harry and Peter while Morris likes Suzanne and Veronica. They are also very kind because Morris was listening to Hank Moore when he wasn't very interested. While Anne was helping around the annexe. That is why I think Morris and Anne resemble each other.
I think that Morris Bird III is the most similar to the Ender character. One similarity is that both Morris and Ender showed times when they did something dishonest but did not take responsibility for it. Morris did not take responsibility for the incident with the Principal's car and Ender didn't show responsibility when he got into a fight with Stilson and killed him. Another similarity is they both worry about what other people think of them. Morris was upset when he threw up in the theatre because people would think he was weird. Ender doesn't like being compared to his brother Peter because his brother was evil. They are also similar because they both feel guilty for something they did. Morris felt bad that the boy got expelled because of his actions and Ender felt guilty for destroying the buggers planet. For these reasons, I think Morris is similar to Ender. By T.C.
Though Morris has very similar characteristics with all of the characters we have learned about. The I personally think that he lines up great with David. They have many things in common. First, they both "star" in historical fictions. Second, their time-frame is World War 2. Third, they share the same dominant and mature spirit/personality. They also share certain characteristics that make them who they are. For example, Bravery, Guilt, Love, Humbleness, etc.. The thing that really shines in my eyes, is their respect for what they have and who they are. They appreciate every bite they have, every toy they get, and most importantly, everyone who says a word to him. All in all, they both have traits that shape them, and coincidentally, they have some of the same ones.
I think Morris Bird III closely resembles David. David and Morris are young boys living in the same time period. Though David’s experiences are much more extreme, they both strive to do good things. For example, David saved Maria’s life and Morris tried to give his salami sandwich to Alex Coffee so he wouldn't waste food. While the examples are different, they show the good intentions of both characters. They both are fairly shy, hate to get into trouble and tend to blame themselves for things that aren't necessarily their fault. For example, Morris threw his sandwich away. The sandwich got smeared on Mrs. Ochs’ car. Morris didn’t smear the car with the sandwich, at least not intentionally. However, he still can't forgive himself for the incident. Like Morris, David feels responsible for his troubles. When praying to God for help, he feels guilty for asking for so many favours. Instead of being angry about his unfortunate situation, he feels guilty.
Morris Bird the III seems to resemble Anne Frank the most in my head. They have many similarities. Just like Anne, Morris tries to make allowances. They both try to even out their good and bad. When Anne hated someone, she didn't try to be the nastiest she could be, instead, she would allow some bad to slip through the good. Just like Morris, Anne felt guilty for things, and she hated guilt. She hated having arguments with people. She also talked about her girl issues. This is just like how Morris talked about his crushes. This is why I see such a similarity between Anne Frank and Morris Bird the III.
I think Morris Bird III is most like David from the book “I am David”. I think this because they are both young boys who are quite clueless in terms of their maturity. For example, when Morris hears his mom call his nanny an “ORE!’’ he is unaware of the meaning of the word she was trying to say. David is clueless because it is his first real experience with life outside the camp, and is understandably clueless about the word. Another thing the boys have in common is that they try and do nice things. David saves Maria from the burning shed and Morris tries to save food by giving his salami sandwich to Alex Coffee. All in All, I believe David and Morris Bird III have the most in common out of the 3 other characters we have read about. G.R. 7A
Morris Bird the third is an eight year old boy who tells the story of when he was six similarly, David is a twelve year old boy telling the story of his hardships. Both characters are young boys with interesting story's to tell. Although Morris and David are in different countries (America and Italy) they do live in the same time period, WWII. Over David's journey and Morris's life they both high levels of intelligence. David at twelve knows three different, also at six Morris wrote a fifteen minute speech. That is why I think Morris and David are alike.
I think Morris Bird III so far is more similar to Anne Frank. I think this because in The Greatest Thing Since Sliced Bread Morris talks about his girl problems and how he has trouble deciding between Veronica and Susan. Just like in The Diary of Anne Frank, Anne talks about her lovers Peter and Petel and how she can't decide so she wished she could combine them together. Also both of the stories take place in World War || which makes them both afraid, scared and fearful of what's going on around them. Although they are in different situations they still have to adapt to the new situation. Anne has to hid from the Nazi because of her Jewish religion and Morris has limited supplies of gas because of his fathers' ranking.

I think Morris Bird the III best resembles David. i think this because, they are both boys experiencing war and having a hard time. they both have an end goal to do something. this also shows their determination. they are also very humble. i know this because they both did something brave and didn't want anyone to make a big deal out of it. David saved maria from the burning shed and Morris did something that is to be found out. there fore i think David and Morris best resemble each other.

I think that Morris Bird the third most resembles Anne Frank. I think this because Morris has many feelings and lots of guilt brewing inside, Anne also had something like that but with emotions and opinions that she couldn’t let out. The other big thing is that there stories both take place around WW1. Although they are on completely different sides, they both have rationing as well as fear about what might happen. They also don’t have the same amount of freedom as before, but at least Morris doesn’t have to stay in a small annex like Anne did. Morris and Anne had somewhat of a love life, they also had many crushes and feelings for their crushes as well as uncertainty.
In my opinion Morris Bird III reminds me the most of Ender. This is mostly because Ender and Morris both have siblings and go to school. At the beginning of Ender’s Game, when Ender is still going to his normal school, it is the same type of story with problems at school. Morris had the guilt of the sandwich accident and Ender had trouble with the Battle School test. Morris and Ender are also very mature for their ages. Morris shows maturity when he almost takes the blame for something that he didn’t even do. Ender is mature in different ways. He was able to skip lots of levels in Battle School because he could think of things that no one else could. I think that Morris is not like David or Anne because they had different stories and didn’t have the opportunity to experience the same things that Morris did.
Morris Bird III resembles Anne Frank. Morris acts a lot like Anne because Morris talks about girls and Anne talks about boys. Anne lived her life in the same period as Morris. That means they will probably live the same lifestyle, set aside the fact that they life in different countries. Morris Bird III has the same type of narrative as Anne Frank. Which is third person with a little bit of first person mixed into it. Anne and Morris have the same characteristics. Brave, when Anne had to hide in the annex and Morris when he went to the principals office to admit it was him who vandalized the car. Although they're in different situations, they still both suffer.

P.s. David shows he is clueless because he hides from the first cars he sees. Since he has never seen them before, he thinks they mean harm.
