Mathematics - Long Division Worksheet pg 19, top half (10 questions, no decimal terms, only long divison)

Hello 7A

Oooof what a class on long division; lots to review so here we go:

Key Terms: divisor, dividend, quotient, remainder.

Cool Terms: obelus is the name for the ÷ symbol, vinculum is the name for the line that separates the numerator from the denominator

Helpful hints: Dracula Must Suck Blood,
                                                                     _____
and the ABBA rule: a ÷ b is the same as b ) a

Long Division with really big divisors (2 digits and more); make a little table (x2, x4, x5).

Suppose we had:

To help us build our "18" times tables...

18 x 2 = 36 (just double 18)
18 x 4 = 72 (just double 36)
18 x 5 = 90 (just add 72 and 18)

Now I can use this to find 18 x 3, 18 x 6, 18 x 7, 18 x 8, 18 x 9

18 x 3 = 36 + 18
18 x 9 = 90 + 72
18 x 7 = 90 + 36

Once I have the little table, it helps me speed up my processing time for long division; a good investment of time.

Remember to always calculate to 2 decimal places
