7A Weekend Homework

Please continue to bring in canned goods for the Hallowe'en for Hunger fundraising initiative led by our Me to We crew.

Math

Today we discussed ratios, equivalent rations, and how to compare ratios. Remember that reversing the order of the numbers in a ration (eg 3:5 and 5:3) does not make them equivalent fractions. KB gave us a good idea of writing them as fraction (eg 3/5 and 5/3 are clearly not the same fraction).

For homework:

pg 47 # 1-3, 6-8
pg 52 # 1-5
pg 55 # 2-4, 7

Today we also took up the Starcup question. Bravo for everyone attempting and working through the question. We also looked at why 2hr and 48mins is a 3+ and 2hr 32min is a 4-. We also discussed how to make it a 4+ (I left after 1748 and before 1844).

Language

Today we had our first 100% homework-on-time check. Again, more bravos going around. Continue reading Anne Frank (our goal is to be finished by next Friday), writing your summaries and adding to your vocabulary list. Plan to have up to 21 April 1944 read by Monday.

Crossword puzzle: https://crosswordlabs.com/

Despite the noisy working environment this afternoon, each of you made considerable use of the 3 periods this week mapping out your crossword puzzles, as well as generating clues. Use the website above to build your cross word puzzle. This is due on Wednesday. Make sure to assign the crossword a password for the answer key. When you are finished, save the puzzle as a PDF, and email that file and the answer key to your teacher. If you require assistance with using the website, please coming early on Monday and Tuesday morning (any time after 0730) and assistance will be provided.

Remember you need to have 10 definition clues, 10 fill-in-the-blank clues, and 10 word-jumble clues.

We also worked on a graphic organizer summarizing the characteristics and identifying examples of Description-writing and Factual-recount. These organizers ought to be completed as soon as possible, so that we may begin to apply this analysis in the coming weeks. It also supports part of our growth and development from the CASI results.

Science

Read through the entire Sus Scrofa article before your next single period science lesson.

Drama

We have not re-visited our characters since our "interview" presentations. Please re-read your character profiles prior to your next drama class

Geography

Test on Tuesday

French

Memorize your lines so you can get the level 4. Practice practice practice.

Music

Try to put in 30 minutes of solid practice on your new music. Try not to include set-up and warm-up, as well as pack-up, as part of those 30 minutes of practice (so that your actual music-dedicated time would be more like 35-40 minutes)

  1. for drama do we just re read it and have your character memorized?

  2. It is advised that you re-read the profile. It is not necessary to have it memorized word for word, but since it is the character you created, you should come to know it very well. We will start to look at how the character responds to certain situations.

  3. should we email the crossword PDF to you? and if so what do we email it to?
